Ok, so after watching it, I can see the 80's cutltural impact/ scare of AIDS in the material and I agree with most of what you said. However, I thought it was a warning about being ruled by obsession. And also, not to sound pretentious, but also Kafka's Metamorphosis and Camus' The Stranger. Discovering life after getting a death sentence. And also a little comment about impending motherhood - the scares surrounding that. I dunno, I may have read too much into this. The last 30 minutes is a vomitfest. I''m officially over glazed donuts and ground beef after watching this.
